Recent deaths of people who don't need their own threads

Just behind the Wendigo cow shed, there's an olde gossip mill, which has been churning out celebrity tittle tattle since Moses was a lad.

:bawl:

I have to admit I was never keen on the character as a child, or Rod Hull & Emu really, but an icon of an era she certainly was.

I really couldn't bear Emu's World.

I always liked RH and Emu when I was a kid and then, as an teenager, I still really enjoyed Emu's manic, anarchic violence that was always ready to explode at the slightest perceived provocation.

EW seemed to nice-ify Emu - make it friendly - i.e. less genuinely scary - for much younger kids.

Grotbags was an awful character as well, although I felt that it was the producer's fault for creating such a lame villain, not the actor's.

Anyway, I hated it. :colbert:

All that "there's a knock at the door" rubbish.

Chuck Blazer, former U.S., CONCACAF official turned FIFA whistleblower, dies at 72.

Chuck Blazer, the disgraced American soccer executive whose admissions of corruption set off a global scandal that ultimately toppled FIFA President Sepp Blatter, died Wednesday.

Soccer corruption had been rumored for years before Blazer accused his boss, CONCACAF President Jack Warner, and fellow executive committee member Mohamed bin Hammam of offering $40,000 bribes to voters in the 2011 FIFA presidential election. Bin Hammam, a Qatari who headed the Asian Football Confederation, had been the lone challenger to Blatter, who was elected unopposed to a fourth term after Warner and bin Hammam were suspended. Blatter was elected to a fifth term in 2015 before resigning.

Actor Hywell Bennett has died, aged 73.

Hywell Bennett was an actor best known for starring in the Sixties film Virgin Soldiers and for taking the title role of Shelley in the television series broadcast in the late Seventies and early Eighties. He excelled equally on stage, TV and film and in comedy as much as he did in the darker, more psychological roles.

He made his stage debut playing Ophelia in Hamlet at the Queen’s Theatre in 1959. Following a period in repertory at Salisbury and Leatherhead in the mid-Sixties he first appeared on television in Doctor Who in 1965 as the character Rynian in the serial The Chase.
