It's Pancake Day!

Postby Call_of_the_Wendigo on Tue Feb 24, 2009 10:08 am

As Noddy Holder would have said, had he had the sense to write a song about Shrove Tuesday instead of Christmas, It's Pancake Daaaaaay! Will you be celebrating in the traditional style?

I know I will. Later today I'll be off to the shops to get myself some microwaveable pancakes. Admittedly, this might not strike everyone as quite the traditional way but the pancakes I make myself always turn out as twisted and floppy messes that I have to pretend are omelettes, so microwave pancakes it'll have to be.

But what about you? Will you be having adventures in pancake?

Will be off to the shops later on for some ingredients. I'll have pancakes wrapped around a banana, with a sprinkling of lemon and sugar and served with a blob of ice cream.

I'm confused. Is it Pancake Day today? If it is, have you celebrated? I haven't. I was totally unaware of its arrival.

It is, yes. I don't bother making them any more, it takes too long and they fill space that could be used for proper food.

If someone else makes them, I like them with jam, or with lemon + sugar.
Even me?

It does seem to have gone mostly unnoticed this year. I hope it's not another tradition that's on the way to dying out.

Gordon Bennett! It seems like mere days ago that I was exhorting everyone to make pancakes - and suddenly it's Pancake Day again! So, have you made any pancakes today? :excited:

I haven't - but I'm definitely going to.

Later on this week.

After I've next been to the shops.

And bought some microwaveabule pancakes.

I forgot too - but you know what?

I couldn't give a single trouser!

When I was a lad nobody made pancakes, but now it's just a cynical ploy by big business to make you buy eggs, milk, flour, sugar and lemons. :sadyes:

But you forgot one thing - pancakes are very nice. It's one of my favourite special days of the year. It never changes, it never becomes too modern or old fashioned - it's just Pancake Day like it has always been!
