An insect has teleported into my home!

For all who love our furry, scaly, slimy and feathery friends because where would we be without them?

A great big bee materialised on my bathroom net curtain this morning. I opened the window and flipped the curtain outside, and the bee suddenly woke up and buzzed away about its beely business.

This doesn't quite qualify, but while I was putting the bins out this evening, a huge dragonfly flew into my cicene, and although I opened both windows (which means getting a screwdriver out) the stupid thing wouldn't fly out, and decided instead to blunder off into the front room, where no doubt I'll shockingly find it dead behind some stuff a few months into the future, when I've forgotten this whole incident.

I managed to get it to fly out of the front room window this morning, after a little gentle encouragement with a feather duster.

While I was trying to remove it, a mason bee has flown in through the window :hothothot: :hothothot: :hothothot: :hothothot:

Managed to scoop up the huge bee in a dustpan and dump it out of the window.

And the mason bee flew away in the confusion.

Has this mason bee at least had the good manners to knock you up a nice stone doorway for the constipated ferret? :colbert:

Yes, I know it's fashionable to call them masonry bees nowadays, to emphasise that they don't actually make holes in the mortar, they just use existing ones. But I'm too old to change. Yesterday's men (and women), hang on to today (hang on), to sing in the old fashioned way...

It's a little round bee that lays eggs in cracks between bricks, and then seals up the hole with mud while they incubate. Then it dies and the young beeling emerges a few weeks later.

I'm not scared of them because they're solitary, and their sting is too flimsy to pierce human skin.
