I wouldn't mind but this place'd be No 198 on that list if it was allowed on it, which shows you how seriously you can take that list.

Does anyone else think the SSC skybar is getting nastier? I find myself posting in there less and less frequently, as even a fairly innocuous quip can seemingly provoke a tirade of criticism and abuse? The humorous banter seems limited to the sci-fi and assorted other geeky threads.

I've got to admit I don't really bother with the Skybar that much these days. That's why I created this place, to fill the time that I once spent on there. Basically, I saw constructing this site as being the online equivalent of doing a jigsaw. I didn't really put much thought into what I'd do with it once it was up and running.

I'd agree with that and I'd also have to hold my hand up and say that I'm guilty of getting caught up in it and having a go as well. A couple of people know how to push my buttons on there and I should know better than reacting, because then I carry on reacting. Oops!

Ooh, I've not been on all day. I'll take a look in a min-min and see if it's still knackered.

Yes, I was on earlier this afternoon and noticed it was grindingly slow. Apparently, they've just spent $11,000 on a new server :ohno:.

Does this include a new search function? I hope it does! Mind you, searching for SSC threads on Google by typing in "Skyscrapercity" followed by whatever you're searching for has always worked a treat. I just hope this new server thingy works eventually.

It just seems like every time they install a new server, everything goes tits up, because Dai Tengu manages to plug the wrong thing into the wrong thing and it takes forever for him to work out what he's done wrong. You have my assurances that that's a mistake I shall never make with my lovely forum.

Yep. It's not there today. :( Still, at least we have this place and maybe some of the forumers who don't usually contribute will turn to THOTW in their time of need.
