The dinosaur thread

A quick search tells me we have a number of threads devoted to various types of dinosaur. Maybe, before long, they can have their own (no doubt short-lived) subforum?

In the meantime, here it is, as requested, The Dinosaur Thread (rargh), where you can share your love for the almost extinct beasts.

:master:

I think my favourite is the radiator-backed Dimetrodon.

I also had a model of a dinosaur with little bits of armour on and spikes with a clubbed tail - not sure what that one is called though.

Yes, that's the one! Or Ankylosaurus according to Wikipedia.

If dinosaurs could be cute... :lovethem:

But why aren't Dimetrodons technically dinosaurs? They look like "terrible lizards" to me. :dunno2:

Dimetrodons aren't dinosaurs because they were around, and became extinct, long before dinosaurs first appeared on Earth. Plus, they weren't technically even reptiles (see below).

Argentinosaurus. I believe it was the biggest dinosaur of them all - unless they've discovered a bigger one since :lovethem:.

Looking at that picture, it looks like it was quite jaunty on its feet. :)

I've been watching that Planet Dinosaur thing, the last couple of days. There was a dinosaur that was like a giant, million ton, parrot. That's my new favourite. :lovethem:
