I think I might be getting a cold.

More news on that as I have it.

I've had a snuffle, occasional headaches and an on-off blocked ear for the last week. Yet it hasn't turned into a full-blown cold as such.

I've been sneezing a lot and having to use a hankie, and my throat was a bit sore earlier. :scared:

I found a half-eaten packet of Halls Soothers in the cupboard today and although they're still within the use-by date, each one has sort of leaked into a sticky mush and the individual wrappers are stuck to them. :bash:

I feel quite ill now, I think I might have to notify a Sickness Absence tomorrow (none of that olf-fashioned phoning in sick these days)

Having said that though, I can think of lots of occasions where I felt this bad at 10.40pm but woke up next day feeling fine, and had to hustle and bustle to get to work on time.

And I hate having to hustle and bustle.

I once again suspect that I might be getting a cold.

Hmm, it hasn't got any worse since lunchtime. But it could sneak up on me overnight.

I've been trying to tackle the 'possible house dust mite allergy' thing. I've been draping my bedclothes over the bannisters during the day, as this has been recommended to me as a way of cooling and drying the bed and thus killing the mites.

It doesn't seem to be working though.

I too have had a second sort-of cold in the space of just over a month. Nothing too bad though.

What about a dehumidifier?

Hmm, I will at least move one of my humidity meters into the bedroom, to see if it is unusually damp.

Yes. After a night of sleep my bedroom can be in the 80s percent - which is high. Put the dehumidifier on for a while - or open the window on a bone dry day - and it drops into the 50s where it should be (40s is apparently best).

I'll report back on the dampness or otherwise of my bedroom.

Fascinating - having given the meter an hour to settle, it shows bedroom humidity at 75% - which is the same as the humidity downstairs.

That's surprising for two reasons - firstly I thought the bedroom was much drier than downstairs, and secondly I thought downstairs was unusually humid because of some sort of dampness issue with the foundations/pit. (The precise cause of which has eluded me despite 11 years of investigation).

I'm glad I listened to you now, Butters.
