I had just this second seen a post on FB by Astronomy Now advertising their Perseids issue, and I came on to HOTW and this thread was the latest post! :cthulhu:

In what direction are they likely to be? It's a beautifully clear evening. I think I might actually have a chance of seeing something for once.

About midnight the radiant (point from which the meteors appear to be coming) will be about halfway up the sky in the northeast.

Happy spotting :fireball:

It's not even dark yet!

And sunset is 14 minutes later tonight in Sheffield than it is in Fanchester, so it won't be nearly dark enough there.

I spent half an hour, just after midnight, looking for them and there was nothing. I'm starting to think that Outer Space doesn't exist and NASA have just made it all up. :colbert:

You heard nothing about, "Outer Space," before NASA was invented. :colbert:

If you look hard enough, it's easy to see that it's just a cardboard backdrop. :colbert:

My science teacher once told me that if the moon was really that far away, you wouldn't be able to see it. :colbert:

Rotherham's only eight miles away and I can't see that. :colbert:

If it was, it wouldn't be able to float. :colbert:

I wonder how much helium it'd take to make Rotherham float?
